Two people have been killed in an ultralight aircraft crashed near Rockhampton on Friday afternoon.

"Initial inquires indicate the ultralight plane had taken off about 1pm and at 3.20pm authorities notified it was overdue," police said in a statement.
"Shortly after another plane has observed the wreckage about one kilometre from the runway and notified emergency services on the ground."
The Queensland Ambulance Service was also at the crash site along with three rural fire crews.
A QAS spokeswoman said units on the ground had not treated any patients.
An Australian Maritime Safety Authority spokesman said the owner of the aircraft had called emergency services when the plane was overdue at it's destination.
This was followed by a call from Hedlow Airstrip, about 40 kilometres north-east of Rockhampton, which reported a crash site near the end of the runway.
