Last month Premier Annastacia Palszczuk appointed Mr McGrady honorary chair of the Queensland Plan Ambassadors Council, a position he said he was delighted to accept and he chaired his first meeting a week ago.
“The Newman government invited over 80,000 people to participate in setting up the Queensland Plan and the Ambassador’s Council has been set up by an act of parliament,” Mr McGrady said.
“It is non partisan and its members are here to promote the recommendations contained in the Plan and do without is necessary to get them implemented.”
Mr McGrady said he saw his role as an advocate for mining.
“I’m there to promote the mining industry and I make no apologies for that,” he said. Mr McGrady said the council was aiming to get its first project off the ground in February.
