In the opening round of the Summer Competition at the Mount Isa Golf Club, the 32-handicapper scorched around the front nine for 24 points.
His nearest rival was Jason Crockett, who was narrowly edged out with 23 points. Sporting a new set of clubs, Thinee took a liking to his change in driver with some quality work off the tee to take the victory.
Nearest the pin honours were taken by Mike Ruri on the both the fifth and eighth hole, while Grant Rodwell knocked it closest on the ninth.
The Summer Competition will run through the warmer months of the year, culminating in a final for the winner of each weekly event.
The club has also welcomed in a new executive and committee with Bob Jakeman the new president, Bill Ellis as captain, Dan Horrobin as treasurer, Brad Thompson as secretary, while the new committee consists of Mark Thinee, Dick Bawden, Jamie McGregor, Mike Ruri, John Dunne (handicapper), Dean Morris (junior golf convenor), Jason Crockett (vice junior golf convenor) and ladies representative Auretta Perrin.
