The kindy held an open day on Thursday to introduce next year’s kindy-age children to the facility and get them familiar with the environment before closing down for the year on Friday.
Director of Estelle Cardiff kindergarten Narelle Elliott said the kids got to do many activities such as playdough, musical instruments, painting and the jumping castle.
“Our concert for the children here all year then follows our open day and we present them with gifts,” Ms Elliot said. “Next year we’ll have artist in residence Shawn Major and he will teach kids how to dance and do cultural studies.”
Kindy educator Samantha Eaton said they were proud to be the oldest kindy in Mount Isa and were encouraging enrolments.
“We are an Indigenous community but we encourage all cultures here,” she said. “We are big advocates for reconciliation.”
