Last week they held their Christmas break-up and cent sale and the highlight was the drawing of the impressive $10,000 raffle prize.
Marian said she bought the $100 ticket two months ago and did not expect to win.
“I just bought it and I didn’t think about it again,” she said. “I’m going to share it with my daughter, $4000 each – she paid for the ticket – and my sons $1000 each.”
QCWA president Judy Martyr said the raffle was successful even though it didn’t quite reach their target.
“What we’ve got left over is going to into painting the CWA Hall (on Isa Street) inside and out,” she said.
“We want to spruce it up and make it look like someone loves it again.”
Judy said they reformed as a sub-branch in April and formed as the Copper City branch in October with their end of year break-up last week. “We had the cent sale and a sausage sizzle, the day was very successful and everyone had a great time”.
