A pair of horrific crashes have claimed three lives after a tragic 24-hour period on Queensland roads.

The latest incident came about 1.15pm on Saturday afternoon when a 40-year-old Cooran man died, after his car was involved in a collision with a truck in Gympie, north of the Sunshine Coast.
Police said the crash happened on the Bruce Highway near the intersection of Hall Road and officers believe the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions.
The driver of the car died while the driver of the truck, a 55-year-old Deception Bay man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
The Bruce Highway remained closed throughout Saturday afternoon, with diversions in place.
Two women lost their lives on Friday evening after the car they were travelling in was involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive in St George, 400 kilometres west of Stanthorpe.
The crash happened about 5.15pm on Buckinbah Road and police understand the two vehicles involved were travelling in opposite directions.
A 25-year-old and 27-year-old woman, both from Taiwan, who were passengers in the vehicle died at the scene.
The male driver of the car and the male driver of the four-wheel drive were not injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
