The defending premiership winners defeated Cloncurry 37-10 on Saturday evening at Mount Isa rugby park.

Euros were in a hurry to put first points on the board and knocked on in goal, within minutes of kick-off.

Cloncurry took advantage of a penalty kick, which saw them put the first points on the board. Cloncurry 3, Euros 0.

Euros forwards powered into their opposition’s defence but small mistakes saw Cloncurry take possession of the ball.

Euros looked to put points on the board with a penalty kick but Marty Paulson did not produce results.

Cloncurry’s winger Callum Fullelove stepped around Euros front rowers and ran 20 metres, but fell 10 metres short when Euros took him down.

Euros gained possession of the ball and capitalised off of a penalty which saw them score next to the goal post. Marty Paulson did not convert the try with the ball hitting the goal post. Euros 5- Cloncurry 3.

Euros went knocking on their opposition’s door again when Josaia Ratuniwailevu charged over the top of Cloncurry’s defence. He gained 20 metres before four defenders brought him down.

A few quick steps Euros score two tries before half time, resulting in Euros 15, Cloncurry 3.

Into the second half of the game Euros scored three tries only minutes after kick-off. Euros 30, Cloncurry 3.

Strong plays from Cloncurry saw them advance up field and score. The try was converted: Euros 30, Cloncurry 10.

Euros finished the game with another try. It was converted at full time resulting in: Euros 37, Cloncurry 10.

Euros spokesperson, Jacob Takurit, said the team’s discipline was the result of their win.

“It was great to get a win in our final game before the Christmas break,” he said.

“Our season has been a bit up and down and that is from not being consistent, so we hope to get more of the boys at training after the break.”

The late game saw Warrigals defeat Keas 29-0.
