And the seven-year-old gelding has won 10 of those races.

In three of the remaining races it has earned prize money by earning a place at Tennant Creek, Birdsville and Maxwelton. 

All Fives first raced for Ballard in Richmond in October, 2014.

It has improved remarkably since that 1400 metre race, where it placed fourth. 

Its next race in Julia Creek during November of that year was its first win for Ballard.

Husband Keith Ballard rode All Fives to victory in the BenchMark 60 Handicap that day.

All Fives proceeded to win its next race in Mount Isa.

Still, Ballard was surprised to learn that All Fives was considered the season’s horse of the year. 

It’s been a quiet year for All Fives, who has been in the paddock recovering from a sore ligament since placing second in the Tennant Creek Cup in May. 

“He carried 62.5 that day and was just beaten by a long head,” Ballard recalled. 

“I’ll bring him back early next year, I’ll look at maybe the Boulia Cup for him.

“I would like to take him to Tennant Creek.

“I’m stoked having a horse like him.” 

All Fives was sired by Argentina horse Estambul while the broodmare was Power of the Rose. 

Ballard said she chose to invest in him because of his regular performance on the field. 

“He was very consistent down south, and never beaten by long margins.

“And people don’t sell them if they are collecting prize money down south.” 

It was a different thing altogether if they were not collecting prize money.

Ballard was able to get him and bring him back to North West Queensland in time for the Richmond races. 

One of the reasons for All Five’s strong performance in the North West was the drop in class since moving from the coast. 

“He went from a class two horse when I bought him, and now he’s an open horse,” she said.
