A large gathering arrived when the markets began at 5pm.
Community groups and churches helped supply the entertainment and the food, while the Mount Isa and North West Queensland Breast Cancer Support Group offered gift wrapping of Christmas presents.
Attendees were also able to buy gifts for Mount Isa Hospital patients and leave them underneath the Buffs Club Christmas tree.
The Christian Outreach Centre provided music and a nativity scene. Children such as Ava New, 18 months, danced to the music.
Stall owner Scott Sheard, also known as Bluey Bee Man, was able to sell his locally produced honey at the markets.
“It’s great, mate. I love the markets here,” Mr Sheard said.
“It’s good to see the locals come out here and support the locals. This is Mount Isa honey, from Mount Isa.”
Stall owner Adrian Waters was also to sell welded artworks, the product of his latest hobby.
“It’s a bit of metal, a bit of mayhem, and a bit of imagination. That’s the three ingredients.
“It’s just a hobby, I wanted something to do.”
His favourite piece was what he called ‘Devil’s Music’, which took six hours to make but paced out throughout several days.
