Queensland Police confirmed they had charged a 27-year-old man from Cherbourg with public nuisance following investigations into an alleged incident at the town on Sunday.

He was issued with a notice to appear in Murgon Magistrates Court on January 10.

Sandow fought a charity boxing match with former Cronulla Sharks half Todd Carney on December 9, where he slipped twice to hit the canvas. The match was ruled a majority draw, but one judge scored Sandow ahead 30-27.

Meanwhile more people are expected to be charged after the brawl in Cherbourg on Sunday and investigations were continuing, police said.

Sandow, born in Kingaroy, began playing with South Logan Magpies and went to Marsden State High School with Israel Folau and Antonio Winterstein.

He was signed by the South Sydney Rabbitohs and was the Dally M Rookie of the Year in 2008, before signing a four-year deal with Parramatta Eels reportedly worth between $1.6 million and $2.2 million.

Sandow left the Eels in 2015 to play with English Super League team the Warrington Wolves, until he quit in November to return to Australia.

He told the Warrington Wolves he left the club because he wanted to attend a family member's funeral and because of "homesickness".

Sandow had another year to run on his Super League contract, but was branded a "pain" by Warrington chief executive Tony Smith.
