However in her place, nine-time ARIA winner and Australian music icon Missy Higgins will headline the first night of the festival, Tuesday July 4, 2017.
A hugely celebrated Australian singer, songwriter and author, Higgins’ first three albums, The Sound of White, On a Clear Night and The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle, have sold more than a million copies. Each went to #1 on the Australian charts and each has also been recognised with ARIA Awards. In February 2016 Missy drew global attention to the plight of Syrian refugees with her aching ballad, “Oh Canada”. The unforgettable benefit single raised significant funds for the Asylum Resource Centre. Missy plans to return with a new album in 2017 and fans can look forward to hearing new music at Big Red.
“I'm so excited to play this gig - to get out into the Australian desert, get some red soil on my feet and share a stage with so many incredible country artists,” Missy said.
Missy Higgins will be joining Big Red Bash 2017 headliners James Reyne, Mark Seymour and Lee Kernaghan, as well as Kate Ceberano, Ray Ryder, Ian Moss and Russell Morris for a music festival unlike any other in the Simpson Desert.
