An Ashgrove man accused of savagely raping a 20-year-old woman in South Brisbane in 2011 will front Brisbane's Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning and apply for bail.

The man was one of two men arrested by detectives on December 28, 2016, after a review by Queensland's Sex Crimes Unit of the rape on April 15, 2011.
The 32-year-old man from Ashgrove was arrested in northern New South Wales and extradited back to Queensland by detectives after Christmas.
He appeared briefly in Lismore Magistrates Court before being returned by detectives to Queensland where he was charged with three counts of rape, two charges of sexual assault and one charge of deprivation of liberty.
The man appeared briefly in the Roma Street Magistrates Court on December 30 where his barrister asked for time to prepare an application for bail.
At that appearance in court, the tall man, wearning a dark green jumper, silently mouthed words to three people who came to court to support him. One woman blew kisses to him.
