MOUNT Isa Theatrical Society members will celebrate the start of the year with a function on Saturday night.

It is held the evening before auditions of Ma Baker’s Tonic, the melodrama comedy scheduled to be the theatrical society’s first production of the year. It will be directed by Tyne James.

The theatrical society’s publicity officer Jenelle Robartson said the first members’ function of the year was a chance to celebrate the upcoming production season.

“It’s always nice to see everyone after the Christmas break and have some fun before rehearsals begins,” Ms Robartson said.

“We hope to have all the fun of a new year with a countdown, games, some self created entertainment. Also a great chance to catch up with members’ families or partners.”

Auctions for Ma Baker’s Tonic are held at the theatre in Transmission Street at 2pm, Sunday, January 15.
