Blundell, who launches his 14th album Campfire at the Tamworth Music Festival, will head the Saturday night concert.
Meanwhile Mount Isa locals, the Bulldust Band as well as Boulia country singer-songwriters Ali S and Charters Towers’ country performer Tony Cook will also play at the Friday and Saturday evening concerts.
Organisers of the Dirt n Dust Festival say it is important to ensure the entertainment is relevant to the event so as to create the right atmosphere.
“We are thrilled to welcome James Blundell who is so well known throughout Australia,” event manager Tammy Roberts said.
“He is one our finest country artists and his performance is sure to delight our audience at what is a unique outback experience.”
Ms Roberts said they had also hand-picked some incredible Aussie talent to support Blundell.
“They all hail from outback Australia, bringing their musical talents and laid-back, humble Aussie manner,” she said.
“It is an exciting line-up of entertainers and our visitors will have a ball, that’s for sure.”
The Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival will take place over three days in April, with the triathlon, horse racing, novelty events and entertainment on offer to those who are looking for an action-packed and fun Aussie outback experience.
Festival president Steve Malone said it had grown significantly over the years.
“We are going from strength to strength in terms of visitor numbers, participation and recognition,” Mr Malone said.
“The event is now recognised as one of the country’s premier outback festivals, something we are very proud of. The entertainers we have booked for 2017 is testimony to the quality event that awaits our visitors.”
The Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival will be held from April 7-9, 2017.
