Committee chair, Jim Pearce MP said said the committee would examine the proposed legislation and consider stakeholder views to determine the Bill’s potential effectiveness in providing a single Act that aims to improve how stock routes are managed and administered in Queensland.
“We want to hear firsthand from land owners, local government, natural and cultural heritage stakeholders and other users of the stock route network about the potential impacts of the proposed legislation,” Mr Pearce said.
“The committee will consult widely with stakeholders, particularly in regional Queensland, I would encourage anyone interested in making a statement at the hearing to register their interest.”
Registrations can be made to the committee’s secretariat via email to ipnrc@parliament.qld.gov.au or by calling 3553 6621 by midday January 30, 2017.
Mr Pearce said members of the public are also invited to attend the hearings as observers.
