Local community group the Development Academy will receive $15,000 in funding as part of the ANZ Seeds of Renewal grant program to support its work in providing training, mentoring, coaching and development in Qld Regional communities.

The Development Academy joins 26 others from across regional Australia that will share in $275,000 in grants in 2017.
The Seeds of Renewal Program, funded by ANZ and independently administered by the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR), aims to build local capacity, increase employment access and develop greater local participation in smaller communities.
ANZ Regional Executive for North Queensland, John King said groups like the Development Academy offered assistance and hope through development and training for regional communities that have been through a long period of economic downturn.
The grant will fund the existing training programs and ensure that members of the Mount Isa community have access to this vital service throughout 2017.
FRRR CEO Natalie Egleton said a key focus of the program was to empower community groups and grass-root initiatives to make a positive change.
“For many of the grant recipients, this funding can be the catalyst to building a vibrant, sustainable and thriving community,” Ms Egleton said.
“We’ve seen the difference it can make over the past 14 years, having supported some 750 projects with more than $4 million through this program.
ANZ will also work with applicants to identify volunteering opportunities for local staff.
