These projects listed on a document to be found on the council website include Artesian baths at the caravan park, amenities at the caravan park and Kev Brannah Oval, shade structure on Burke Street, tent city, and a master plan for an RV site nature trail. 

“Council were fortunate to have the opportunity to develop projects for completion within the 2016-17 capital works budget and in preparedness for future funding,” the document said. 

“Our 2016-17 capital works budget is $14,068,740 with $7,862,872 received in funding from State and Federal Governments.” 

The proposed Artesian baths are aimed at replacing an older bath removed years ago from the caravan park. 

“The concept has been revitalised to enhance the appeal and to attract a different travel market to our shire, for local and tourists to enjoy,” the document said. 

When Senator Ian Macdonald visited Julia Creek last November at the opening of Punchbowl Bridge he hoped that the next time he returned it was for the Artesian baths’ opening. 

The new amenities at the caravan park aims to replace the donga amenities. More showers and toilets would be available. 

The amenities at Kev Brannah Oval will be extended. It will allow change rooms for two teams. 

Gym and indoor sports centre and pub users would have access to the restroom. 

The existing shade sails in Burke Street would be extended. 

“We have incorporated the suggestions to make the bays wider and that is reflected in the design, to make it easier for two vehicles to park next to each other in one bay,” the document said.

Tent City, used for the Dirt N Dust Festival can be improved. It would encourage use from school groups, conferences, car rallies and campdrafts.
