The Buffs Club and the Rish Nightclub entertain on Australia Day Eve.
At the Buffs DJ Richo will entertain at the kids disco from 6.30pm to 8pm on Wednesday, January 25. There will be a prize for the best Aussie costume.
Then from 8pm until midnight local band Bulldust entertains. DJ Richo returns following that.
The club has an extended licence to operate until 4am.
The theme will be Back to the 80s, and patrons are encouraged to dress in costumes.
On Australia Day the Buffs will serve Kangaroo Pie, and a sausage sizzle.
The Rish Nightclub opens its doors at 10pm, January 25, and then closes at 3am.
The first 50 people through the door receive a gift pack.
There will be a cash prize for the best dressed bogan and shazza.
Entertainment is to be headlined by guest DJ and Melbourne based porn star Samm Rosee. She will be supported by local acts Obesity and Arki S.
Samm Rosee’s website was not safe for work, as the reporter awkwardly found out when attempting to learn her background. But she does explain on her Facebook account that she began her DJ career in 2014.
Her taste in electro and Melbourne bounce genres and the engaging art of DJing inspired her to perform in the club scene.
There will also be jelly wrestling. The boxes of jelly were seen collected from a local store on Monday.
On Australia Day itself The Barkly Hotel celebrates with a pool competition and a barbecue.
The pool comp’s first prize is $500. There were also prizes to be claimed for Australian themed games.
The Overlander Hotel has promised a free barbecue between 2 to 4pm.
“January 26 promises to be a bottler,” a hotel spokesperson said.
“Snags chucked on some bread and onions, throw in a sherbet mixed in with Aussie rock all day and ya got yarself a ripper day.”
The Copy Cats will entertain from 8pm. As the name suggests the band led by Nathan Bruen plays covers.
“Nathan has been on the live scene for other 10 years, playing in some of Australia’s biggest hard rock and metal acts and has now turned his attention to solo entertainment,” the spokesperson said.
