Martin is out of contract at the end of the season and will be one of the most closely monitored players by rival clubs.

Richmond insist the club is in constant dialogue with Martin's management, denying reports that contract negotiations have been put on hold.

Both the club and Martin's manager – Ralph Carr – who met last week, are of the opinion that nothing needs to be rushed.

"If he had any issues or felt uncomfortable in any way, I know he'd come to me as a mate," Rance said on Tuesday.

"We're completely comfortable with Dusty, the way he is training is the best in his career, so I'm not too worried about anything."

Rance can relate to Martin's situation, having endured much of the 2015 season with constant speculation about his future, amid reports of huge offers from others teams, including Brisbane.

But the star defender put rumours to bed midway through the year, putting pen to paper on a four-year extension that keeps him at the Tigers until the end of 2019.

"Everyone walks their own path. My path is completely different to his and I'm not sure too many blokes would walk the same," he said.

"So my advice probably wouldn't apply to Dustin and wouldn't apply to any other guys who are coming into free agency."

Despite his reluctance to give Martin advice, Rance said he and his teammates are desperate to keep Martin wearing the yellow and black.

Martin, 25, averages 25 disposals and a goal over his 153-game career at Richmond.

He's polled 46 Brownlow votes in the past two seasons, including a career-high 25 last year.

"Oh, absolutely. He's our best player at the moment. Reigning Jack Dyer medallist, breaks the game open and the Tiger faithful love him, so he's a valuable player for us."

Rance joined a handful of teammates at the Puma store in Melbourne Central to link up with Olympic superstar and Nitro Athletics athlete Usain Bolt.

The Jamaican was handed a Tigers jumper, a membership and even a scarf by Rance, aided by Brandon Ellis, with the footballers noticeably star-struck.

Bolt, who is also sponsored by the Tigers' new apparel-maker, attracted a huge crowd of fans who waited in line for hours to get a photo with the eight-time Olympic gold medallist.

The sprint star is in action again for the Nitro event on Thursday night, but he's remaining tight-lipped about which events he'll run in.

"I don't know yet, I don't know," Bolt smirked.

"You never know, you know what I mean? I have two more days before I decide exactly what events I'm going to run ... we'll see what happens."

Bolt has no special plans in Melbourne over the next two days and will aim to train and relax before hitting the track again on Thursday.
