Travelling to outback Queensland, Caitlyn Shadbolt, will perform at a Battle of the Bands fundraising event for the Australian Junior Rodeo Association.

The concert will headline Ms Shadbolt and showcase other local talent to raise funds for selected junior rodeo competitors to travel to America to compete.

Battle of the Bands organiser, Jennifer Hetherington, said it was great to have Caitlyn on board supporting the event.

“Cloncurry has not held a Battle of the Bands competition in many years, so we wanted to revive the competition as this year is about celebrating 150 years of Cloncurry,” Ms Hetherington said.

“We also wanted to establish an event that we thought the community was lacking, which is arts and music.

“Caitlyn’s visit will allow us to raise funds for our association while also showcasing some local talent and talent from across the state.”

Ms Shadbolt rose to fame during the sixth season of X Factor Australia and has since staged her name as one of the brightest rising Australian country music artists.

“While Caitlyn is in town she will also host a singer/ songwriters workshop for aspiring artists to attend,” Ms Hetherington said.

“The Battle of the Band competition is open to bands and solo performers from north, central and southern Queensland, in a junior or open category.

“This is a family friendly event with stalls, kids entertainment and plenty of live music.”

The concert will be held at the Cloncurry Equestrian Centre on April 22.
