In the perfect world, that will be the gripping end to the first AFL game at the Burswood stadium in round one of the 2018 season in front of 60,000 footy nuts.

Any suggestion the Eagles and Dockers won't play games at the stadium next season is complete lunacy.

There is chatter doing the rounds because the talks between the WA Football Commission and the Barnett government has hit troubled waters, the Eagles and Dockers will stay put at Domain Stadium in 2018.

Complete and utter baloney.

If the Dockers and Eagles don't play a game at the stadium in 2018, I will get Nat Fyfe's face tattooed on my butt. Hell, I'll get the whole Dockers' team inked into my backside.

It's been reported the WAFC has knocked back a compensation deal from the state government worth around $100 million, which would see the commission hand over its 74-year lease at Domain Stadium.

The commission is playing hard ball and wants an extra $1 million a year.

If a deal can't be struck there is a "risk" both the Eagles and Dockers will be left to play their games at Domain Stadium in 2018.

There is also the "risk" the ultimate magic fairy in the sky might come down and smite us all, but I'm confident that won't happen any time soon or at least until the Dockers win a flag.

The Liberals or the WAFC might be involved in an old-fashioned standoff now, but a deal will be struck before whoever party is in power, hands over the keys to the new stadium.

WAtoday understands an in principle agreement has been agreed between Venues Live and the two Perth-based AFL clubs, who are just waiting for the state government to sign off.

Maybe the Liberals just forgot to sign on the dotted line before it went into caretaker mode. We will never know.

The Eagles have even threatened to "boycott" the new stadium unless a decent deal is struck with the WA government.

Hogwash. Sponsorship deals will have been stitched up, new memberships are in the mail and corporate boxes have all but been snapped up.

Both the Dockers and Eagles are "cashed-up" so not moving to the new stadium won't leave them penniless, but both clubs know it would be financial suicide in the long run to stay at the dilapidated Domain Stadium.

And then there is the fan. What footy tragic doesn't want to watch a game at the sterile, graceless, concrete monstrosity that is Subiaco Oval?

What fan doesn't enjoy carrying a bucket of Preparation H into the ground because there is the real fear of contracting excruciating haemorrhoids after sitting on a bullet-resistant seat?

The ground looks like it was designed by a fifth-grade kid with undiagnosed ADHD back when Labor leader John Willcock held power during World War 2.

And the screens at the ground have all the technological innovation of Atari's first video game Pong.

I can just picture Adele weeping during one of her whining songs at the Domain Stadium later this month, mumbling you poor, poor people have suffered so much under Communist rule.

I've had a tour of the new Perth Stadium and have openly admitted "it is so god damn sexy."

The stadium is truly breathtaking and awe-inspiring.

Once the fan gets a look at it, footy nuffies will march on the streets if there are no AFL games in 2018.

A deal will be nutted out. No government would be dumb enough not to sign on the dotted line after spending $1.3 billion of taxpayers' money for a stadium.

The Dockers and Eagles will run out in front of 60,000 fervent, giddy footy-lovers in round one next year.

Let's just hope Rioli doesn't miss.
