Trainer David Aiken believes Lennytheshark has become his best chance in Saturday's Miracle Mile at Menangle after drawing gate six.

Aiken-trained Lennytheshark and Hectorjayjay on the two qualifiers at Menangle last Saturday night but Sunday's barrier draw was again cruel to $4 second favourite Hectorjayjay, which drew the outside in gate 10.

"Bad draws and Mark Purdon have cost Hector more than $1 million this season," Aiken said.

"He can still lead from out there but it makes it very tough because of the work he will have to do. I think Lenny is probably my better chance now because of the draw."

Lennytheshark was run down in the shadows of post in last year's Miracle Mile in track record time and has the advantage of knowing he can run a 1.47 mile and was still a $5.50 chance at Ladbrokes after the draw.

Lennytheshark and Hunter Cup winner Bling It On, gate three, were the big winners in a draw which assures fireworks from the gate with all the speed drawn out wide.

Purdon could again be a thorn in the side for Aiken's pair with his three record runners Smolda, Our Waikiki Beach and favourite Lazarus drawing, one, four and eight.

Chariots Of Fire winner Lazarus remains the $2.40 favourite despite drawing wide. If Lazarus is to win from out there he would become the first Miracle Mile victor to come from outside gate five since the race moved to Menangle.

Trainer Shane Tritton has Salty Robyn and Yaya Hotspot in the Miracle Mile and indicated that four-year-old Salty Robyn could look for the lead after drawing perfectly in gate five.

The Miracle Mile is the highlight of a group 1-packed program at Menangle on Saturday, including the NSW Derby, Ladyship Mile and NSW Oaks.
