Organisers say now is time to start training for the Fountain Springs Mountain Bike Classic.
The Fountain Springs Mountain Bike Classic event hosted by Stack City MTB is being held on Saturday May 27.
The event is held in the rugged ranges surrounding the Fountain Springs region halfway between Mount Isa and Cloncurry.
Event spokesman, Adrian Cameron said the 2017 event would be run on the same course as the 2016 race.
“This will enable competitors to compare their times from the previous event and allow them to set goals for each section of the course,” Mr Cameron said.
“Stack City MTB members are currently fine tuning the course to make it a little more user friendly as some sections were unrideable for the majority of competitors in 2016.”

The event has several options for competitors.
There is the full course for seasoned riders which is 65 kilometers.
Meanwhile social riders and those new to the sport are facing a less strenuous 25 kilometer course.
Riders are able to nominate for either category however race organisers have asked that riders consider their fitness levels and ability before nominating for the full course as it a very challenging ride for those not at peak fitness.
Riders must be 15 years or older to tackle either course however there will be two kilometer and five kilometer races for junior riders from five years old.
The event will again include an outdoor music festival by The Shack crew (Mount Isa Folk Music Club) on Saturday night after the race.
Event spokesman, Adrian Cameron, said the combination of Mountain Bike racing and live music had proven very popular.
“For everyone looking for a unique outdoor event, camping is available at the venue,” he said.
