The purpose built steel trailer and cooler was purchased with a $30,000 grant from MIM, a subset of mining corporation Glencore.
President Sue Carson said it’s a huge step forward for the charity’s ongoing fundraising efforts.
“This is going to make our job so much easier, it’s all in one place so we’re not going to be running around borrowing this and that.
“It’s brilliant, it’s purpose-built for what we do,” Ms Carson said.
The trailer was presented at a media launch on February 14, just prior to cooking up its first feast, an ‘Ocker Valentine’s Barby’.
Mount Isa Mines Operating Manager Stuart Reid was present, acknowledging the hard work of Paws Hoofs and Claws in rescuing animals.
“I can’t imagine that calling for volunteers for around 3000 dogs and 1500 cats over seven years has been easy,” Mr Reid said.
The trailer features photos of beloved rescue pup Buddha, who sadly passed away.
Rod Pilon Transport Mount Isa transported the trailer from Brisbane for free.
