Junior coordinator Dean Morris said two teams tied for the win on 28 points while the third team was narrowly behind on 30 in the first game of the season.
“We had to end up giving out prizes to two lots of teams,” Morris said.
The first training session was held last Wednesday with up to 20 junior golfers attending, the same number which was at the try-out day the previous Sunday.
“The aim this year is to get half a dozen of the kids a proper handicap and send them away playing outside of Mount Isa,” Morris said.
He hoped several Mount Isa juniors would compete in the Australian Junior Championships, to be held in Yeppoon in April.
It meant an emphasis on teaching rules for championship level.
“We can get them hitting well but you’ve got to know the rules,” Morris said.
