​The Queensland Redistribution Council is due to release its proposed shake-up of electoral boundaries on Friday morning.

But a map showing the proposed redistribution was leaked on Thursday afternoon, prompting the QRC to release the full details online.

​Mr Knuth's seat has been swallowed by his Katter's Australian Party colleague Robbie Katter, whose electorate of Mount Isa will be renamed Traeger.

​Mr Knuth said he felt the shake-up was aimed at minor parties.

"There's no doubting the way it's been drawn that you'd generally feel that this is the way of getting rid of the minor party," he said.

"There's only two of us [Katter's Australian Party] and they heavily target the seats in areas, these seats, that are held by the cross benchers.

"There's been an overhaul of these rural and regional seats just to get rid of mine, it just doesn't stack up, when they only needed minor changes."

Mr Knuth ruled out he and Mr Katter running against each other in Traeger.

Mr Knuth said his seat was divided into three separate seats, "removing any opportunities to run".

"It's very disappointing and particularly when both LNP and Labor submissions pushed to see the Dalrymple electorate wiped out," he said.

"And there has been a strong overhaul to the other rural and regional seats just to make way for abolishing my electorate."

Mr Knuth said only minor adjustments were needed in the regional areas, which would have allowed for the retention of Dalrymple.

He said there would be protests among his constituents, and he would object to the changes.

​It is an interesting outcome for KAP to grapple with, considering they supported the creation of four more seats to give regional Queenslanders greater representation.

But it is not the first time, Mr Knuth has faced electoral boundary challenges.

He represented Charters Towers from 2004-2009, beating the Labor incumbent, but the redistribution ahead of the 2009 state election combined his district with One Nation MP Rosa Lee Long.

He won the new seat and became the inaugural member for Dalrymple.

Mr Knuth then resigned from the LNP to join the Katter's Australian Party in 2011 and then won the 2012 and 2015 elections.

Mr Katter said anyone who "took the time to study Shane Knuth's history" would see he could win any seat.

Mr Katter said the major parties "got their way, picking on the western guys and KAP" with the result of the proposed redistribution.

"And now there's less western representation in the Queensland Parliament," he said.

"Everything's been sucked into the coast. I'd argue the coastal, metropolitan areas already have enough representation in that Parliament."

Mr Katter described it as blow for Mr Knuth's constituents.

"They had a strong bloke that was willing to take government on, not a puppet for the major parties, and they're at risk of losing that," he said.

One Nation is expected to win a swag of seats in the next election, but the redistribution will have political pundits questioning who can win what under the new boundaries.

Labor will have a difficult proposition on their hands in inner-Brisbane, with Environment Minister Steven Miles' seat of Mount Cooth-tha basically vanishing, mostly absorbed by Scott Emerson's seat of Indooroopilly, renamed as Maiwar.

It leaves three Labor ministers in the area - Dr Miles, Grace Grace (her seat of Brisbane Central is renamed McConnel) and Kate Jones (her seat of Ashgrove becomes Cooper) vying for two seats.

It could be risky for Dr Miles to contest against Mr Emerson, particularly in suburbs such as St Lucia.

"I live in the new seat of Maiwar. I'll be running for that seat," Mr Emerson told ABC radio on Friday, but wouldn't be drawn on a likely contest with Dr Miles.

Dr Miles said he'd contest the next election but wouldn't say in which seat.

"Regardless of what these maps mean for me, I'll be running at the next state election," he told reporters in Cairns.

"Politics is tough on families. We're established in the community I'm currently representing ... I haven't yet had a chance to discuss this properly with my wife and my family."

Further south, the boundaries of Logan MP Linus Power's seat will change, which an insider said could be a problem in the new demographic.

Both parties will be worried about losing the incumbency factory in electorates where the boundaries change.

A Labor source claimed three new seats - McAlister, Jordan and D'aguilar - were notionally Labor.

But an LNP source said Labor was claiming victory far too early.

"Labor is just trying to give their scared MPs a morale boost," the source said.

There will be a chance for parties to provide feedback, but changes after the proposal is released are not usually sweeping. But with the addition of four new seats, the situation could be different this time.

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has committed to fighting the election on the new boundaries, rather than jumping the gun early before they come into effect.

"It is my clear intention that we will fight the next election on those new boundaries which includes the additional seats," she said earlier on Thursday, before the map was leaked.
