Parents and teachers may have gone a little ‘overboard’ outside work hours to ensure the book fair’s ‘bookaneer’ theme was obvious.
Other decorations they helped build included ‘dead man’s island’ – a volcanic island table display covered with treats and goodies.
School librarian Mellissa Stretton said the book fair’s official opening for parents was held on Friday night.
Until Thursday on each school day from 1.20pm to 4pm parents can buy books at the fair.
She said the books in the display were new, unlike in previous years. but expected picture books to be big sellers.
Year 6 student Mattea Smith said she was looking for mystery books. “Because I don’t know what’s coming next,” she said.
