Coach Paul White said the masters AFL team has been training weekly at Captain Cook Oval since Thursday, February 16.
The team prepares for the championships to be held in Townsville on April 30, and for the Battle of Midway in Richmond in May.
“The focus of training this year will be to survive each session and to encourage former players to return to the game,” White said.
He wanted returning players to remember the “great camaraderie” between Masters players.
“You don’t have to know anything about AFL and you don’t have any obligation to play a game,” White said. “We encourage anyone to come down and make new friends and get a bit of fitness at the same time.”
Magpies train at 6pm on Thursdays at Captain Cook.
