The Australian Turf Club remains undeterred by a potential $1 million-plus hole left in their bottom line by the failure of any Japanese runners to travel for Sydney's autumn carnival and hope strengthening ties with the Hong Kong Jockey Club will partially supplement a shortfall in Asian betting turnover.
