A crowd of more than 32,380 attended the rodeo in 2016, up three per cent on the previous year, with visitors spending just under $13 million during the three-day event.
Tickets for the 2017 rodeo go on sale in March.
Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Commonwealth Games Kate Jones said 2017 is sure to be another success.
“The Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo is riding high, having just won the Gold award for Festivals and Events and recording strong results at the 2016 event,” Ms Jones said.
“Now the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere, the Mount Isa Mines Rotary Rodeo is a great Queensland events success story, which was elevated to major event status last year by Tourism and Events Queensland.”
