Galeforce Fitness staff volunteered their time to support Queen Quest contestant Sam Eaton’s campaign to raise money for Estelle Cardiff Community Kindergarten.
Ms Eaton said they played games, did an obstacle course, and had a “dance off”.
“We were just happy to have one child to come, but we had a good turnout,” Ms Eaton said during the event held at Tony White Oval.
“I didn’t really mind if this was a monetary success.
“It was just to get some kids to get active, it’s only the first one (event). It can only get bigger and better than this one.”
An estimated 50 children attended, not including the supportive parents watching from the shaded sideline.
Calculating $10 a child’s entry with the estimated figure it means that Ms Eaton raised about $500 from the boot camp.
Ms Eaton chose to enter the Queen Quest this year because she saw it as an opportunity to help an organisation that she cared about.
“I’ve been (working) there for 12 years and I’ve seen it go through troubled times,” she said.
“So this year we’re starting afresh. I saw the opportunity and put my hand up to be an entrant.
“It’s out of my comfort zone but I’m learning and loving it.”
She was planning more events in the year for her quest, including a night out for parents while their children were babysat by the kindergarten.
Local father Jimmy Papadopoulos supported the idea of a children’s bootcamp, which his daughters had been involved with until they became distracted by the play equipment.
“The kids are really enjoying it,” he said.
“I’ve never seen anyone do something like this. It’s actually really good...it’s something different.”
Personal trainer Sarah Gale said it was harder than it looked to go under a kid’s parachute. “On a plus note the Kids’ Mega Bootcamp was a great success.”
