This year the students are writing persuasive letters about Cloncurry getting a cinema.
Dear Cloncurry Council,
Do you want a beautiful cinema in Cloncurry?
If Cloncurry had a cinema, much needed money would go to the council.
Thousands of dollars would be given to the people of our town.
Then with all that money we could build more awesome buildings.
It would also give us more money to buy fun playground equipment.
There will be millions of movies.
There would be lots of cool educational movies.
There will be tonnes of fun children’s movies as well.
There would be thousands of scary movies for the adults. Everyone would be happy!
Cloncurry would be a much bigger place. It would be on its way to being a huge city. More people would come to our town. I command you to give us a cinema.
Heidi Chivers
Dear Cloncurry Council,
We really need a cinema. Nobody wants to go all the way to Mount Isa. Would you?
I think it would be much easier. Don’t you? People who don’t have cars can just walk.
When people come to Cloncurry for a holiday, they could go to our cinema.
Movies that you want to see might be showing in our cinema.
Cloncurry will love it! Locals will be able to see more movies.
Kids could have lots of popcorn. Miners will get lots of cold drinks. Couples will watch lots of romantic movies (especially on Valentine’s Day).
It will give us more money. If it gives us more money, more money could go to the school.
Do you want more education for your kids? I know I want more education.
So make up your mind.
Reagan Tapp
Dear Cloncurry Council,
Do you want our community to go broke?
It would be easier to have a cinema in Cloncurry.
It would be better to walk to the Cloncurry cinema instead of driving all the way to Mount Isa. We will drive quickly for only a minute, instead of hours!
We would have time to watch more movies as well.
If there really was a cinema, more people would visit Cloncurry. Mount Isa people would even come to see some amazing movies.
More tourists would stay in Cloncurry.
Remember, more people means more money.
It would be amazing for our community because more money would go to the council. We would get more tall business buildings and bigger parks.
If we got more money we would get more shops for lollies. Cloncurry must have more money.

There’s one last unrelated but important thing the entire class wants to say as a group:
