A Council driven project, the Mount Isa Arts and Culture Walk is a self-guided tour though the best of Mount Isa’s artwork, cultural heritage and historical landmarks, along an easy 7.8km route that encircles the city.
The Walk takes in the Art on Zinc murals at Buchanan Park, Arts on Alma, Outback at Isa, the Rodeo Drive plaques, and the Town Clock, with the brochure giving information and history of each place.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the Mount Isa Arts and Culture Walk brochures were available at locations across the city including Council on West St, Outback at Isa, and the Civic Centre.
“This walk is something that can be enjoyed by not only visitors to our city, but residents as well, who would like to slow down and really appreciate the scenery and the landmarks, art forms, and historical pieces throughout our CBD and surrounds,” Cr McCulloch said.
“In addition to what we already have, as part of our commitment to city beautification, we are looking to create more points of interest within arts and culture in our community and would love to hear your ideas.”
