Minister for Sport Michael de Brenni, announced this week Round 20 matches will be played in those two towns as well as Bamaga, Clermont, Mundubbera and St George.
Julia Creek will host the game between Souths Logan Magpies and Tweed Heads Seagulls while the Townsville Blackhawks will come to Winton to play the Ipswich Jets.
Mr de Brenni urged regional Queenslanders to add the weekend of July 22-23 to their calendars.
“Nothing brings us as Queenslanders together like footy, and this is especially true in regional Queensland,” Mr de Brenni said.
“Whether they’re playing at home or away, communities rally to support our local teams, and the Palaszczuk Government is getting behind you too.
“I’m proud that our Government will continue to support the Queensland Rugby League’s Intrust Super Cup Country Week initiative with a three-year sponsorship commitment.
“Sport is a lifeblood of many country towns. We want to show you how keen we are to get behind your local community.”
Mr de Brenni said the initiative has delivered considerable economic and social benefits to regional communities in previous years.
QRL Managing Director Robert Moore said lLast year’s round generated $104,000 for the clubs and local leagues who hosted matches.
“Country Week is a wonderful initiative, and we’re extremely grateful to the Queensland Government for extending their commitment to this rewarding program,” Mr Moore said.
Over the next few months, the QRL will work closely the Intrust Super Cup clubs, Division Managers and Local Leagues to finalise the events at each of the Country Week grounds.
“Our staff and QRL Board Members look forward to the opportunity to travel far and wide across the state to meet and support the volunteers who make our great game tick,” Moore said.
