Co-captain for Warrigals, Alex Weller, said the 15-5 result shows how far the team has come this season.
“It was a much improved performance on what we showed in week one of the finals, I guess that comes with being in a do or die situation,” Weller said.
A fair bit of niggling after kick-off showed how much was at stake for both teams.
“Obviously it was a big game for both sides, both wanted to be playing a grand final next week.
Cloncurry player Hamish Chrisp said it was a hard fought game.
“A few guys were playing out of position and put a really good effort in,” Chrisp said.
“Earlier in the season they beat us 90 nil at one game, but we’ve played them twice since them and held them really close,” he said.
The premiership final is on Saturday March 25 where Warrigals play the Euros for a third year in a row, after losing to them in 2016.
