The 1am lockout was set to come into effect in February for all venues trading until 3am as part of Labor's crackdown on alcohol-fuelled violence.

But after a report showed no obvious reduction in assaults as a result of other policies rolled out so far, the 1am lockout was scrapped.

However, the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation, within the Department of Justice and Attorney-General, spent $24,710 (excluding GST) under a standing offer arrangement for advertising production costs for the 1am lockout.

The spend was revealed following a question on notice asked by the LNP opposition.

Opposition Fair Trading spokesman Jarrod Bleijie described the government's decision to scrap the 1am lockout as a "political backflip".

"They promised one thing before the last election and that commitment changed several times," he said.

"They committed to the 1am lockout all throughout 2016 - even as late as November in Parliament when they voted against an LNP motion to scrap it.

"Now Queenslanders are paying the price for Labor's mess - all $25,000 worth."

A government spokeswoman said the Palaszczuk government was committed to tackling alcohol-fuelled violence.

"The core focus of the alcohol-fuelled violence campaign has been on two goals: reducing the hours of alcohol service, in line with international and local evidence; and driving a cultural change in Queensland's relationship with alcohol," the spokeswoman said.

In her written answer to the question on notice, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the government had several social marketing campaigns aimed at increasing awareness of responsible drinking behaviour, impacts of violence and changes to alcohol service times since late 2015.

"These campaigns support the government's objectives aimed at changing culture, promoting responsible drinking behaviour and creating a safe and vibrant nightlife environment," she said.

"These campaigns are in addition to initiatives run by local Safe Night Precinct Boards."
