The latest figures for the registration see numbers up across the board on this time next year, with both Junior and Senior Teams up by over 50%.

Both the Junior and Senior Individuals are also bigger and better this year, with the Senior sign ups already into triple digits.

Something organisers have noticed this year is the significant number of female competitors who have already signed up to race in Australia’s toughest triathlon.

Out of the over 200 people already signed up, well over half of them are women. 

As with previous years, organisers are expecting an influx of male competitors to begin to sign up as the event draws closer but are still surprised by the incredible number of females ready to get dusty and dirty at the Festival. 

So does that mean that women are tougher or more organised than their male counterparts? 

Either way it looks like the girls are going to give the boys a run for their money.

Organisers are happy with the results so far and expect that this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever with these kinds of numbers.

President of Julia Creek Dirt n Dust Festival Stephen Malone says that it’s heartening to see that even after 23 years the Dirt n Dust Festival can still draw a crowd.

“The fact that year is already going so well is just such a testament to the event and the people involved with it,” he said. “We’re really happy with those numbers, they’re incredible.”

Organisers are expecting the numbers to only grow from here as the Festival draws closer, with over 3,000 people expected to flood Julia Creek from April 7.
