Triple J says they will pick one local act to open up the festivities on the night.
The Unearthed winner will also get airplay on Triple J.
To be in the running, you need to be a band from the North West region and also make sure your best tunes are uploaded to triplejunearthed.com.
Triple J said the competition was now open and closes on Sunday, April 2 with the winner announced April 4.
“If your songs are 'pending' on the website when the comp closes, don't freak out,” the station said.
“We listen to everything that gets uploaded before we make a decision.”
Queensland Triple J Content Director Ollie Wards said the One Night Stand was one of the best things they got to do, taking killer live acts from around the country to regional towns like Mount Isa.
“We are hyped to take the show on the road for the most epic gig the Isa has ever seen,” Mr Wards said.
“This will be the biggest blast the town has had since their daily 8 o’clock mine blast.
“We’re packing the J Van with snacks and our musical mates and can’t wait to make the road trip into Mount Isa.”
The event will be held at Tony White Oval on Saturday, April 22.
On the bill will be San Cisco, Tash Sultana, the Smith St Band and Thundamentals.
Triple J will broadcast the One Night Stand live on the radio and the internet.
