The oval will be the site of Triple J’s music festival on Saturday, April 22.
The Irish Club’s events manager Akos Schneider said “we’re very, very excited to have this on the oval.
“It’s the first massive event like this for a while.
“There’s a bit of work we need to do to make sure the stage goes in, some trimming, and the boundaries are ready for the event.”
Triple J would bring in its own stage and transformers.
The oval has previously been used for a Broncos game, which supported around 8000 people watching around the field.
Mr Schneider said that Triple J representatives had checked the grounds when looking for a location.
“They loved it at first sight. It had a nice green tree line, and you could see the mine in the background,” Mr Schneider said.
“They loved how big and open it was. For them it ticked all the boxes.”
