Harmony Day is a day recognised nationally to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity and promote inclusiveness and respect for everybody that calls Australia home. Held annually to coincide with the United Nations International Day of Elimination of Racial Discrimination and now in its 17th year, Harmony Day spreads the key message of ‘Everybody belongs’.
Access CEO Gail Ker OAM said in celebration of Harmony Day 2017, members of MyQ, Access’ youth subsidiary, would once again travel to Cloncurry from Brisbane for a week of community events and workshops, designed to promote and celebrate the social cohesion and cultural diversity of this unique Outback town.
“Cloncurry has a rich cultural tapestry; this project will provide an opportunity for the community to further develop their understanding of the region’s cultural diversity,” she said.
The Harmony Day Celebrations will all come together at The Cloncurry Shire Council’s Taste of Harmony event on Thursday with cultural food, multicultural entertainment and an exhibition of the photography produced by the young participants of MyQ’s photography project.
