Polmans is expected to rise 30 spots in the rankings to a career-best world No.190 after coming from behind to defeat Banes 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.

The 19-year-old pocketed more than $11,000 for his two weeks on the capital's red dirt and is now gunning for a maiden French Open appearance next month.

"I'm stoked, it's unbelievable," Polmans said.

"It ended up being a good call coming back from China. I've had some awesome matches throughout the week, I couldn't be happier. I was able to get that one break in the third set which proved the deciding factor, but really, it could have gone either way, so I'm just happy I played the big points a little bit better today."

Polmans wasn't left satisfied with his singles title and after a short beak returned to court with Brad Mousley and won the doubles final.

"I wasn't too energetic after that singles match but I just went out there and worked on my volleys and my partner played really well, he helped me out a lot," Polmans said.

"I like playing on the clay. These courts have been unbelievable considering how much rain we've had so my body is feeling a lot better because of the clay, it's nice and soft.

"It's an awesome feeling to be inside the top-200 now and it should secure me into most main draw Challengers, which was my goal this season."

Polmans has vowed to play in the Canberra International later this year and is keen to defend his claycourt titles in 2017.

"The majority of my points have come from Canberra and I enjoy the conditions, it suits my game very nicely so I'll be definitely planning my schedule around Canberra," Polmans said.

Polmans is known in tennis circles for his trademark legionnaires cap which he began wearing as an eight-year-old.

"First it was just for sun protection but now everyone knows me by it. It's a part of me when I play tennis and I don't think it's going to go away from any time soon," Polmans said.
