Recipients from round one of the 2017 grants included Christian Outreach Centre, Copper City Tennis Club, Mount Isa Quilters Group, and North West Canoe Club.
The community will benefit from a number of enhanced facility features including the installation of air-conditioning at the Christian Outreach Centre, quilting workshops, easy booking systems at the Tennis Club, and additional equipment for dragon boating.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the community funding that council were able to provide was a rewarding program for council every year.
Cr McCulloch said the program provided financial support for organisations whose activities closely align with council’s vision and made a difference to the city.
“The Community Grant Scheme supports some of the groups making a significant contribution to our community and providing services which council would otherwise need to provide,” Cr McCulloch said.
“The help with day to day expenses allows groups to focus on the fantastic activities and services they offer our communities.”
Round 2 of Mount Isa City Council Community Grants will open in August.
