THERE were 377 crimes that happened in the Mount Isa Division in March, according to Queensland Police Service online crime statistics.

This included five unsolved frauds which have all happened within five days. The first fraud happened at a Camooweal Street business, which was reported on the night of Friday, March 3.
Two other businesses in the Mount Isa Central Business District were affected by fraud on March 10. These were in West Street and Simpson Street, according to the crime map.
Two places in Pioneer were also affected by fraud on March 8 and March 10.
There were also two arsons reported in the same location on Monday, March 6. The map shows the crimes located at the intersection of George and East Streets.
There had been an increase in good order offences in March compared to the previous month’s statistics. In March there were 128 good order offences; which can include public nuisance and disorderly behaviour.
But assaults, property damage, unlawful entries and other thefts had decreased.
In March there were 40 assaults, and 26 of these had been solved. There were 41 crimes of other property damage. 26 had been solved. There were 18 unlawful entries and six of these were solved. There were 47 reports of ‘other thefts’, which do not include unlawful entries. 22 of these had been solved.
In the Cloncurry Division there had been 41 crimes in March. ‘Other thefts’ occurred the most. There had been 14 of these and six had been solved.
All eight traffic matters had been solved. There had been six unlawful entries. Police had solved two of those crimes, and six cases of property damage. Half of those had been solved.
There were three unlawful uses of motor vehicles, two good order offences, one weapons act offence, and one assault that happened in Cloncurry in March.
In the Mount Isa District, which takes in an area of around a quarter of Queensland, there were 655 crimes in March.
And 83 of those crimes were assaults. 56 of these assaults had so far been solved.
