Nobody did deadpan like John Clarke. From his earliest moments on 1970s New Zealand television as Fred Dagg, to his most recent, on an episode of Clarke and Dawe that aired on ABC-TV just last week, Clarke remained a master of the straight face while delivering lines that could easily have been serious were they not quite so ludicrous.
