It was the start of a road show through the north west region organised by Honeycombes Sales & Service in Townsville, and Hino Motors Australia.
Five 2017 models were presented to Council departments to view and try out from 7am.
Their next stop was Cloncurry before Julia Creek and Richmond on the way back to the Townsville dealership.
The roadshow required just two drivers for the trip, with the three smaller trucks fitted snugly onto the back of a large Hino prime mover.
Honeycombes Business Development Warrick Hill said that local councils use trucks for many purposes.
“We’ve had different departments out this morning, looking at specific models.
“Most councils use them for tipper applications, carting crews around for roadworks, this truck is a prime mover as well, which can be a large tipper,” Mr Hill said.
He noted it was a small selection of what Hino has on offer this year.
“There’s 51 models that Hino manufacture to cover every range.
“They go from 4495 gvm (gross vehicle mass) which is under a car license right up to 72 tonne, the largest truck they make,” Mr Hill said.
