An investigation confirmed Port ruckman Paddy Ryder and Adelaide forward Eddie Betts were racially vilified during Saturday night's match between the South Australian clubs.

Ahead of Port's clash with Greater Wester Sydney in Canberra on Saturday, Westhoff said he was surprised the game is still being marred by racism in 2017.

"It's ridiculous really, just uneducated people thinking they can say anything they want, I don't know where they get off saying this stuff," Westhoff said.

"It shouldn't be out there at all and I don't know if they think they're better than others but it's just unacceptable and we have zero tolerance for it.

"There is no place for it anywhere in the community, let alone sport, AFL is such a family-orientated sport and we need to stamp that stuff out as quickly as we can.

"The club has a hard stance on things like that and we don't want to see that in our supporters or any other supporters."

Ryder will miss Saturday's game at Manuka Oval after he was handed a one-game suspension for striking Adelaide forward Riley Knight.

Port copped an 86-point thumping against the Giants in the capital last season, but Westhoff believes his men can secure the Sydney double after an impressive win against the Swans in round one.

"We hadn't won in Sydney for about 10 years so we took a fair bit of confidence out of that but obviously GWS have a whole new dynamic in the way they play," Westhoff said.

"It's going to be big test for us this week but I think we match up pretty well and are in a pretty good space, so it'll be a toughie but I'm confident."

After a close loss in the Showdown Westoff said his men are hungry for a return to the winner's list to solidify their top four status.

"Last week we thought we had opportunities to win the game and it's always a big week against the Crows, but that winning feeling always gets you up and the guys are pumped and ready to go again this week," the 31-year-old said.

Three rounds into his 11th season at Port Westhoff is averaging 17 disposals and the one-club key forward believes their premiership window is wide open.

"We just feel comfortable with the guys on the park and have a lot of trust within the group at the moment," Westhoff said.

"Winning early always helps but the belief is there, it's the same kind of belief we had a few years ago so it's pretty exciting time to be here.

"Getting towards the end of my career the big one to tick off is winning a premiership and we've got the players to do it.

"I've certainly got a few years left and where we're at as a club our window is open to have a bit of success going forward."

Westhoff is hoping for a bumper crowd at Manuka on Saturday but the 200-gamer emphasised there is no place for racists in the stands.

Port chief executive Keith Thomas confirmed the Power member who racially vilified Betts has had their membership suspended indefinitely.

"As a club we are sickened by these reports that are at complete odds with the values of our club, represented in our spectator code of conduct," Thomas said.

"As a club and an industry we need to continue to educate football supporters that this type of behaviour is not acceptable at our games or in society more broadly."
