The former Docker was the only omission from the Collingwood team, which scored a gutsy one-point win over Sydney Swans last week. Mayne also initially missed selection for the Magpies in round one, but was a late inclusion to the team for their season-opener against the Western Bulldogs.

Mayne, 28, has managed just 13, 12 and 11 possessions in Collingwood's opening three games, as well as 2.2 in front of goal.

St Kilda have a notable omission of their own with former No.1 draft pick Paddy McCartin dropped after just two games so far this season.

McCartin and Shane Savage make way as David Armitage returns for the Saints and they hand an AFL debut to young forward Ben Long. McCartin played six matches in his first season two years ago and 11 games last year after three bouts of concussion took their toll.

The Saints are also without Jack Steven as the key midfielder recovers from a punctured lung.

Long was taken at pick 25 in last year's draft and is the cousin of Hawthorn livewire Cyril Rioli, and nephew of Essendon great Michael Long.

In-form Richmond have made one change for Sunday's twilight clash against Brisbane Lions at the Gabba, bringing in Connor Menadue for Ben Lennon.

The Lions have added Claye Beams and debutant Cedric Cox for the omitted Jack Frost and rookie Jake Barrett.

Cox, 19, hails from Halls Creek in Western Australia but headed to Victoria to chase his AFL dream and played at North Ballarat alongside Lions teammate and high draft pick Hugh McCluggage.
