Education Minister Kate Jones said tradies had carried out urgent clean-up and repairs at more than 300 state schools to get them ready for the new school term on Tuesday.

"I want to reassure parents that classes will get underway at all schools after the Easter long weekend," Ms Jones said.

"The Department of Education, Public Works and local tradies have been working around the clock to get our schools ready for teaching and learning.

"I want to thank them - along with our school communities - who have worked so hard over these school holidays."

Ms Jones said there was still more work to be done in some schools, which would be done over the coming weeks after hours and on weekends where possible, to minimise disruption to classes.

Fairfax Media visited Clarke Creek State School, located 190km northwest of Rockhampton, in the aftermath of the severe weather event.

The tiny school, with just 11 students, had been completely cut off by flood water and experienced substantial flooding.

Ms Jones said tradies had been working hard and would continue working over the Easter weekend to get Clarke Creek State School up and running to ensure classes begin this week.

And measures have also been taken at other damaged Queensland state schools.

"At Swayneville State School, west of Sarina, the Department of Education has worked with parents, the Country Women's Association and the Mackay Regional Council to set up a temporary school for around 25 primary students," Ms Jones said.

"We will set up a 'pop-up' school at Colston Park CWA hall for Swayneville State School students who have been cut off after significant landslips rendered sections of Marlborough-Sarina Road unusable."

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is also helping to identify alternative school bus transport options for students at Sarina State High School.

Last week, Ms Jones said staff had identified more than 700 jobs to be completed at about 300 schools, with the clean-up bill estimated to be "in the millions of dollars".
