Raiders captain Jarrod Croker said he'd checked to make sure Wighton really was going to bring up the century against the New Zealand Warriors at Canberra Stadium on Saturday after he'd looked on Wikipedia.

The confusion comes from many unofficial websites missing one of Wighton's games from the 2015 season, meaning his mum thought his 100th would come the following week when the Raiders host Manly.

Croker was unsure whether his No.1 had been able to clear up the misunderstanding.

"I asked him about it. He didn't know himself because his mum is adamant it was 99 [this week]," he said.

"I checked Google or Wikipedia and it was 98 and I was like we better check this out and work it out, so I don't know whether he's talked to her or not."

Raiders coach Ricky Stuart said they would "celebrate it twice".

He said Wighton was a "real team man" and backed him as one of the most influential fullbacks in the NRL.

"He's a huge contributor to our footy team and I personally believe as a fullback he'd be one of the highest contributors to a football team in the competition in regards to his efforts in defence, what he gives us in attack, how he brings the ball out of yardage," Stuart said.

"It's not just all flair with Jack, he plays a tough game of football."

Croker played in Wighton's debut against the Gold Coast Titans in 2012 when he was on the wing outside of him.

He said his custodian had added a "yard of speed" this season and felt he didn't get the credit he deserved.

"I can't believe he hasn't been getting talked about more. I don't like putting pressure on players, but he's probably been our best player along with [Josh Papalii] this first six weeks," Croker said.

"The work he's doing at the back he's like an extra forward at times. He runs for over 200 metres, he sets up tries, he breaks tackles and saves tries. He's been great for us."
