The incident happened late in the game at Adelaide in which the Crows won well, by 65 points and like Ryder, McKernan is looking at a one-match ban.

Adelaide have their own concerns - defender Jake Kelly was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital early in the third term as a precaution after suffering an eye injury, while speedster Charlie Cameron appears to have a slight hamstring strain.

The Crows, however, are hopeful Brad Crouch will be available for his first AFL game this season after a hamstring injury, while Josh Jenkins had a run on Saturday and may resume next round against the Gold Coast Suns after a longer than expected absence with a rib injury.

The Bombers won their opening two games this season against Hawthorn and the Brisbane Lions, but have now lost to Carlton and the Crows.

Coach John Worsfold reiterated he had no idea where he thought his team would be at this early stage of the season. He added the squad had set their goals for what they want to achieve with three or four years as a group.

"What I am doing is holding them accountable as a group," Worsfold said. "I am putting things in place to achieve that. We knew it was not going to happen in four weeks of the season. It is going to take a lot of hard work.

"In terms of how many wins and losses we achieve this year that was too hard to predict, but in terms of putting some accountabilities in place for each other the way we want to play that has happened. We have already already assessed that... we know there are some areas where we have let each other down, but that is part of what we are learning.

"I want the players to take the game on and not get nervous. They still took Adelaide on today and it cost us a bit, but if we get better and we get better playing that way I think we will get to where we want to get quicker than just trying to play slow and safe until we think we are ready to take it on. We will still continue to take some risks."
